It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Chance Jamal Zager Johnson, at the age of 16. He was a beloved son, grandson, brother, nephew, and cousin. Chance passed away suddenly on February 13, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of passion, resilience, and a fierce competitive spirit that touched everyone who knew him. He brought immeasurable joy and light into the lives of those around him with his kind heart and beaming smile that would light up a room.
Chance was born on August 14, 2008, in Lawrenceville, Georgia. He grew up with a love for riding four-wheelers, dirt bikes, and playing basketball. At the age of 6 months old, he was riding his first electric push-button four-wheeler, and he was instantly captivated. From an early age, he sought adventure and enjoyed the thrill of riding. At the family business, Ryding Dirty, customers were impressed by the depth of knowledge and experience he possessed at such a young age. He was a natural when it came to selling anything related to powersports. Above all, he made it a priority to ensure every customer had the proper safety gear to protect themselves, always with the goal of preventing anyone from getting hurt. Basketball also became his passion, and it was clear that he had an unwavering work ethic, determination, and enthusiasm that set him apart. His talent on the trails and on the court was undeniable.
Outside of Chance's love for sports, he treasured spending time with his family, countless cousins, and close friends, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime. His loyalty, love, and generosity knew no bounds, and he will always be remembered for his radiant energy and zest for life.
Chance is survived by his parents, Travis and Joi Johnson; his two brothers, Akye and Loyal; and three sisters, Shai, Ivri, and Treasure. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents, Debra and Domingos Gomes; and his paternal grandparents, Sheila Johnson and Randy Boyce. He is predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Robert Louis-Wayne Zager.
Chance will be deeply missed by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends. His passing leaves a void that can never be filled, yet his memory will remain forever in our hearts.
