Catherine Elizabeth Rowan passed away during the night on March 10, 2025, at the age of 19. She was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, friend, and cousin. She leaves behind a legacy of joy, spunk, strength, bravery, and compassion. God did not give Catherine a strong body, but He gave her a strong spirit. She went to sleep in her dorm room but awoke in the arms of Jesus. Her body was healed, and she was dancing for joy.

Catherine was born on August 26, 2005. Her medical battles were known to all, but they did not define or limit her. Never looking back, she always looked forward to the future. She found excitement and adventure in everyday life. Always happy to see everyone, she loved to hug. Her happiness and joy lit up the room, including the stage during her ten years of participating in live theater. She had a fierce loyalty to friends and family. She never passed by a dog without stopping to pet it. Disney was one of her passions in life, watching all the movies, touring the parks, and cruising. She loved singing Taylor Swift songs and watching Grey's Anatomy, planning for her future as a pediatric nurse. Trips to Target or the Dollar Store were spontaneous fun outings. She challenged herself to walk 5K's every few months, only selecting races that allowed her dogs, George and Blake, to participate.

Catherine loved her tight knit homeschooling community for years. In high school she attended Dominion Christian School, where she cheered for football and basketball. She was a social butterfly there, quickly getting to know everyone there. Upon graduating, she began attending Shorter University, where she began her studies to become a nurse. She was an active participant in the Baptist College Ministry and the Zeta Alpha Tau sorority. She loved college and, like in high school, was a social butterfly ... known to all.

Catherine is survived by her parents, Robert and Victoria Rowan, and her sister, Sabrina. She is also survived by her maternal grandfather, Russell Embs. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Beth Rowan, and her maternal grandmother, Judith Embs.

In honor of Catherine Rowan’s life, her family has created the Catherine Rowan "Tickled Pink" Memorial Scholarship, which will support students at Christian Fellowship Theater by providing tuition assistance and college scholarships. Catherine's passion for live theater shone through for ten years, as she sang, danced, acted and loved life on the stage.
