Carolyn Irene Mackin Morris, age 89, of Marietta, passed away on May 2, 2015. Born in DeKalb County, Georgia to the late Ralph B. Mackin and Agnes Mackin, she was a 1944 graduate of Decatur Girls High. She is also predeceased by her husband, James Harold Morris.
During her lifetime, she was employed by the State of Georgia Health Department, Southern Bell, and later served for 35 years as the Clerk and Secretary of Riverside Church of God. She was a talented artist of still life, landscapes and seascapes. She painted the mural in the entryway of Milford Elementary School and enjoyed interacting with the children while the project was in progress. She will be remembered as a faithful child of God, a good friend, a wonderful mother and grandmother.
She is survived by three daughters, Nancy (Harrison) Tomlinson (Wayne) of Jasper, Georgia, Judy Langford (Robert) of Birmingham, Alabama, and Debra Powell (Jim) of Canton, Georgia, as well as six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who fondly called her "Grannie." She is also survived by her sister, Mary Jean Hubbard (Don) of Rabun County, Georgia, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at the West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. located at 2480 Macland Road, Marietta, Georgia, 30064, on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at 10:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 11:30 am. Interment will be at 3:00 pm at Crest Lawn Cemetery in Atlanta.
