Carlis Andrews
May 25, 1957-January 28, 2023
Carlis Andrews, age 65, of Acworth, Georgia passed away peacefully on the afternoon of January 28th, 2023. After a courageous battle with kidney disease, he went to be with the lord. He was surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.
Carlis is survived by his wife of forty years, Monique Miller Andrews, daughters Ashley Andrews-Martin (Brooks), Kristin Andrews Whitehead (Donald) and Allison Andrews, as well as his sisters, Bertha Fitzpatrick and Ethel Andrews. His legacy will always remain true through many extended family members and friends.
Carlis was born on May 25th, 1957 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to Thelma and Bernice Andrews of Wiggins, Mississippi. Carlis was the youngest (and only son) in his family of four sisters: Ruth Andrews Phillips, Bertha Andrews Fitzpatrick, Martha Andrews and Ethel Andrews. His parents, sisters Martha and Ruth are all waiting to greet Carlis in his new heavenly home.
At a young age, Carlis accepted Christ as his personal savior. At New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Carlis was active in the youth choir and Sunday School where he honorably served as its superintendent. Even though life experiences moved him away from his childhood family church, his connections never ceased.
After graduating from Stone High School in 1975, Carlis went on to receive his bachelor's degree in Communications from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1979. During his time at the university, Carlis was president of the Mu Xi Chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He was also a member of Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC). Immediately after graduation from college, Carlis was commissioned as second lieutenant in the United States Army Reserves. Carlis was honorably discharged in 1993 with the rank of Captain. In 1982, Carlis married his college sweetheart, Monique Miller, and they shared many years of love and laughter.
Carlis worked for the Chrysler Corporation (now known as Stellantis, Inc.) for nearly 40 years. His career with the company took him and his family to many cities. After living in Texas, Missouri and Illinois, he settled in Georgia where he worked as the Stellantis Southeast Regional Remarketing Manager. During his career, he was privileged to work with a wonderful group of colleagues in the automotive industry.
Carlis will be fondly remembered for his warmth and impeccable character. He was always quick to make you smile and was fierce in his love to his family. He loved spending time laughing with friends and family, and he enjoyed watching WWII movies and Western TV shows. Carlis was an avid football fan. He wouldn't miss watching the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday, and on Sundays, he watched any and all NFL football games. Carlis also doted on his "grand dogs": Rhoda, Ms. Blue and Aspen. He ensured that they all had a "little steak" from time to time.
