Acworth, GA – Bruce Evitts Humphrey, 73, of Acworth, GA, passed away Monday, May 9th, 2011 at his home.
A native of Marblehead, MA, Bruce was born on October 19, 1937, to Edward F. and Viola (Evitts) Humphrey.
Bruce served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1959 as a Topographic Engineer.
He was employed for I.B.E.W. #103 in Boston, MA for thirty-five years as a Master Electrician.
Bruce spent many years in Stratham, NH before moving to Acworth, GA in September 2002.
He was a a member and 32nd degree Mason of the Philanthropic Lodge A. F. & A.M. in Marblehead, MA since 1966; Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Salem, MA; Aleppo Shriners of Wilmington, MA; a member of Board of Health in Marblehead, MA from 1964 to 1981 and chairman from 1967 to 1981; member of Marblehead Planning Board from 1961 to 1964; President of Northeast Boards of Health from 1975 to 1979; a member and Past Chaplain of B.P.O. Elks #97 of Portsmouth, NH; and a member of Powder Springs First Baptist Church in Powder Springs, GA.
Bruce was a graduate of the Stratham Citizens Police Academy on January 9, 2001 and the Acworth Citizens Police Academy . He was a volunteer at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center in Central Control with over 5000 hours of service.
Survivors include his wife Susan D. Humphrey; five children, Joyce A. Humphrey, Bruce S. Humphrey, Kimberley M. Humphrey, Heidi H. Haberman and husband Jason, Tami H. Zogopoulos and husband Skip; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister Patricia Valz.
Services: A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Waterside Cemetery Chapel in Marblehead, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society:
