Bolan Eber Clay, age 72, of Marietta, Georgia passed away on February 14, 2025. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the church formerly known as Fair Oaks United Methodist Church in Marietta, Georgia. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the same location. The church is known today as Christ the King Anglican Church and is located at 1480 Joyner Avenue Marietta, Georgia.
Bolan, affectionately known as Bo, was a native of Marietta, Ga. where he had lived since his birth. A graduate of Osborne High School, Class of 1971, Bo went on to attend Kennesaw Junior College.
Bo enjoyed serving the Fair Oaks community through his work at Fair Oaks Paint and Hardware where he enjoyed mixing paint that was as colorful as his personality. He was widely known for his ability to match paint colors and stain by eye. After Fair Oaks' closing, he was happy to continue serving the community at Benjamin Moore and Cobb Hardware. Bo’s talents extended beyond his professional life; he had a deep passion for photography, cooking, and reading, with a particular fondness for the works of Stephen King. His love for the arts led him to enjoy live theatre, where he found joy in the performances and stories that unfolded on stage.
Bo was a devoted member of Fair Oaks United Methodist Church, where he served as a Lay minister, Sunday school teacher, and in other leadership roles. Bo faced health challenges with grace; he battled Parkinson's Disease and, more recently, cancer, demonstrating remarkable strength and resilience throughout his struggles.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his wife of 22 years, Marsha Lipscomb Clay; his daughter, Amanda Jean Clay; and his son-in-law, Jonathan Andrew Hickel. He is also survived by Jeannie Aycock Allen, the mother of his daughter, Amanda. Preceding him in death were his parents, Dorothy S. Clay and Horace B. Clay. Bo’s legacy of colorful service and dedication to his loved ones will continue to inspire all who knew him.
