Bobby Glenn Redding, age 80, of Jacksonville, FL, formerly of Powder Springs, GA, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Friday, March 14, 2014, at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory, 2480 Macland Road, Marietta with Dr. Richard Walker officiating. Interment will follow at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton at 12:30pm.
Mr. Redding served in the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant. He continued his military flying career as a Flight Engineer with the Georgia Air National Guard. Mr. Redding was a pilot with the Georgia Department of Air Transportation before retiring with 36 years of service. He was Past President of the Smyrna Lions Club, active in the Marietta Lions Club and former door keeper for Speaker Tom Murphy during the General Assembly.
Bobby and Becky were married for 56 years. If you saw one you would usually see the other. Bobby loved his family more than anything. He was always concerned for their well-being before his own. He never met a stranger. Bob loved to tease and make people laugh.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Mills Redding; daughters, Rachel Ann Redding of Greenville, SC, Laura Redding Redwine and her husband, Mark of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Clara King Huskey and her husband, Jon of Greer, SC, Michelle King of Taylors, SC, Phillip Satterfield of Havelock, NC, Michael Satterfield of Roswell, GA; great-grandchildren, Sam, Maggie and Cate Huskey; sister, Carol Redding Woodson and husband Tommy, of Texarkana, AR and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 13, 2014, from 5pm-8pm.
