Bobby Jones

Bobby Lee Jones, affectionately known as BJ, beloved husband, father, brother, cousin, and friend, passed away February 5, 2023, at the age of 77. He was born on April 29, 1945, in Macon, Georgia. He was the son of the late Polly Colbert Jones and the late Ralph Jones, Sr. He was the second of five siblings.
Bobby attended Peter G. Appling High School and he was also active in high jumping. Bobby joined the military in 1965 and served in the U.S. Army and he was also deployed to Vietnam before being honorably discharged by the military.
He became employed by the Federal Government at Warner Robins Air Force Base working various jobs over the period of 12 years. Resigning from Warner Robins, Bobby embarked upon entrepreneurship, owning a Custodian Business where he provided cleaning services in the commercial arena in Atlanta Georgia.
Bobby married the love of his life, Mary Payton Jones, who he met while being stationed in the military at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. Bobby and Mary were united in marriage on April 23, 1982 in Huntsville, Alabama. Respecting and caring for each other was the focus of their 40 years of marriage. During the course of their marriage, Bobby planned many trips: vacation trips, anniversary trips, Valentine's trips, birthday trips, and "just because" trips to the beaches of south Georgia's Golden Islands, Florida's coast, and the Carolinas.
Bobby loved the Lord and truly exercised his unwavering faith in God, in spite of never actually joining a particular church.
Bobby had much love for family, friends, and for people in general. He possessed a kind and quiet spirit, never big on being seen or heard. Bobby was a very wise man full of wisdom and truth. Whenever the opportunity presented itself, he would discreetly impart words of wisdom to family, friends, and people whom he met.
He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter: Octavia Jones, and sister: Cynthia Brown Bonner.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving and dedicated wife: Mary P. Jones; three daughters: Reshema Cunningham of Macon, Georgia, Shantia (Tago) Mason of Macon, Georgia, Natalie Sanders of Marietta, Georgia; siblings: Ralph (Yvette) Jones of Sumter, South Carolina, Gregory (Connie) Jones of San Antonio, Texas, Willie (Laura) Brooks of Macon, Georgia, Glenda Summers of Macon, Georgia; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
