Bobby Gray Hinton, affectionately known as Bob, was born on October 22, 1944, in Porterdale, Georgia. He departed this life on December 17, 2024, in Atlanta, Georgia, leaving behind a legacy defined by his commitment to his work and a profound love for the people and animals he encountered throughout his journey.
Bob's professional career was marked by versatility and creativity. He worked for various organizations as a draftsman and salesperson, showcasing his design talents for numerous firms. In addition to his employment, he also served as an independent consultant. Bob's educational foundation included graduating from Newton County High School and furthering his studies at Falls College for Draftsmen.
As a proud veteran of the United States Army, Bob served in combat during the Vietnam War. His time in the military instilled in him a sense of purpose and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life.
Known for his engaging personality, Bob never met a stranger; he had a remarkable ability to connect with people and often knew a person's life story by the end of their first conversation. His warmth extended beyond his interactions with humanity; he held a deep affection for animals, especially his faithful companion, Eleanor.
Bob is survived by his beloved sister, Janice Whitaker (Lee); his brother, Wayne Hinton (Angie); his daughter, Heather Hinton Cannarella; and his treasured grandchildren, Mitchell, Madeline, and Maxwell Cannarella. His legacy will also be cherished by his special cousin, Melba O'Kelley, and a host of cousins, nephews, and nieces who adored him. Additionally, he leaves behind special friends, John Sartain and Michael Nifong, who were integral to his life.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Otis Hinton; his mother, Wilbur Lee Dial; and his brother, Willie Hinton.
A graveside service will be held on January 2, 2025, at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, beginning at 12:30 PM.
