It is with great sadness that we lay to rest a great man today. Billy Lynn Wood, born on July 25th, 1959. Billy passed away on July 21st, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Ms. Vinny Wood and their son Vincent Wood. Billy is survived by his 3 other children from his previous marriage; His daughters, April Nichols and Rachel Wood, and his son, William Jason Wood. Billy is survived by 4 grandchildren; Jayden and Dylan Nichols, Nova Wood and Tesla Teague. Billy is survived by his mother, Joan Martin, his 3 sisters and several nieces and nephews. Billy enjoyed cooking for his family and spending time with them. He was known for his delicious meals and cooking everything from scratch. Some of his most popular dishes that he is known for are his unforgettable spaghetti, his tomato gravy, his mac and cheese and his fried chicken and corn on the cobb. Billy was good at many things. He was a man with many hats, and there was nothing that he couldn't fix. He was good at working on cars and motorcycles and spent a lot of time doing that.
Right after working on his car, he would step over to the side of the house and start working on his roses! He enjoyed gardening, and he really cared about his plants. Back when he was more able he spent a lot of time working in his yard and took a great sense of pride in how it looked. Billy was also quite the artist. He was good at drawing and painting. He had even learned how to paint automobiles, and was really good at it -which is not an easy thing to learn.
Billy loved his family a great deal and when the kids were growing up they had dinner together at the table, had family movie night and enjoyed spending time together outside. In his younger days, he was a hard worker and even owned his own company designing and building large commercial trash compactors. Billy was a good man. He was kind to others, he would give anyone the shirt off his back, he was funny and like to laugh. But, most important of all, Billy knew the Lord. His family can rest assured, knowing that without a doubt he is walking the streets of heaven today. Billy could reference every person in the Bible's name, and he could tell you stories from the book like he read it only yesterday.
Billy had been sick for the last several years, and recently became confused, extremely weak and unable to do the things he was used to doing. Billy left this world too soon, but we know that he no longer suffering. He had a strong will to live and had held on and been strong through some tough times recently. He wanted to live. He wasn't ready to leave his family. He had been making plans for he and his wife to move in with his oldest daughter and her family, while he received the medical treatment he needed to start feeling better.
He was looking forward to creating more memories with all of his grandchildren and spoke often about the sadness he felt about not being able to spend much time with the littlest grandbaby yet. Billy will be missed dearly by his family and it will be extremely difficult to get used to not hearing his voice or seeing his face. His family looks forward to that glorious day, when they will get to see him once again and together will live forever in the streets of heaven.
