Betty B Sims

Betty Sue Sims, age 83, of Acworth, Georgia passed away Sunday, July 23, 2023. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at First Baptist Church Powder Springs in Powder Springs with Rev. Mike Woods officiating. She will lie in state at the church 1 hour prior to the ceremony. Interment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta.

Born in Lanett, Alabama, Mrs. Sims lived most of her life in Cobb County. After graduating from Lanett High School, she graduated from Auburn University, then graduated from the University of West Georgia with a Master's Degree in Education. She worked as a teacher with the Cobb and Paulding County School Systems, retiring after 40 years in education. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Powder Springs. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Leigh Sims Turner, in 2007.

Survivors include: Husband of 61 years, Norman Douglas Sims; Son, Jay Sims, Kingston, GA; Daughter, Kaye (Troy) Walden, Kennesaw, GA; Brother, Melvin (Nancy) Barber, Kennesaw, GA; 5 Grandchildren, Noah (Cortney) Sims, Reese Walden, Brooke Walden, Lauren Turner, and Owen Turner.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, Georgia.
