Betty Louise Fletcher McBrayer, age 88, passed peacefully into the presence of Jesus on 9-11-23 in Albany, Georgia. She was born on September 28, 1934, in Plant City, Florida to Raleigh E. and Doris H. Fletcher. She graduated from Plant City High School in 1952 and was married to David Columbus McBrayer on September 13th, 1953. Together they had 3 children and spent most all their married life together pastoring churches around the state of Georgia for the Church of God until David’s death in 1987. Betty was an accomplished pianist with classical training that served her well in many venues. Over her lifetime she taught hundreds of piano students who performed scores of recitals for their parents/family/friends. Her most prolific venue of applying her musical gifts was found primarily in leading the churches they pastored in wonderful music-filled worship and praise to the Lord Jesus Christ. Her Spirit-anointed piano playing was unsurpassed during her years of active ministry. She retired in her early 70’s from a 25-year career working for the Federal government as an Administrative Assistant to the Director of GSA in the Atlanta office. She was a most beloved pastors’ wife and a true friend to all who knew her. She was a loving/faithful wife and absolutely the most wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother a child could ever wish for. Some have said that she is the most genuine/selfless and sweetest person they have ever known. She made the best strawberry shortcake you will ever eat! She lived a Christ-centered joyful life.
Betty is survived by her son, Stephen A. McBrayer (Gina), her 4 grand children: Ginessa L. Morgan (James), Candice L. Brown (David), Zachary A. McBrayer (Ashley), Stephen Avery McBrayer (Ren); 6 great grandchildren: Logan James Morgan, Daxon Gunnin Morgan, Ronan Bray Morgan, Fiona Gail Brown, Eleonore Drew McBrayer, & Lorna Joeldine Brown; her sister Carolyn Gillman (Leo), and scores of nephews/nieces/cousins, precious in-laws and their families, and hundreds of former piano students and thousands of former parishioners/ministers and other friends.
