Mrs. Betty Jane Maxwell, 82, passed away on January 8, 2025, in Woodstock, GA.
Betty Maxwell was born on August 26, 1942 in Martinsville, VA, to Norville and Rose Painter.
Betty spent her life in various servant-centered roles, most importantly as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She also spent time working with her sister, Edith, at a flower shop, helping turn-key apartments, and at the local skating rink.
Betty married Paul Maxwell on December 19, 1958 in Marietta, GA. The couple had 1 child, Teresa Garren, of Kennesaw.
Betty was best known for her infectious laughter, joyous spirit, and love of reading, embroidery, word and jigsaw puzzles. She never met a stranger and always left those she encountered with a feeling of belonging.
Betty is survived by Teresa (Mike) Garren - daughter, of Kennesaw, Elizabeth (Eddie) West - granddaughter, Reychel Garren - granddaughter, Anna Kate West - great-granddaughter, and Morgan Grace West - great-granddaughter.
Betty is preceded in death by Paul Maxwell - spouse, Norville Painter - father, Rose Painter - mother, and her eight brothers and sisters.
The service for Mrs. Betty Maxwell will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 2:00 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home in Marietta, Georgia, with Reverend Keith Collins officiating.
Visitation: Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
There will be a private interment at Georgia National Cemetery.
