Betty Evelyn Huddleston

Mrs. Betty Evelyn Huddleston, age 90, died peacefully in hospice care at WellStar Atherton Place in
Marietta, Georgia January 28, 2023. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Marietta, Georgia with Rev. Alan Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park in Marietta, Georgia.

Betty is survived by her two sons Richard Bryan Huddleston and Russell Stephen Huddleston of Powder Springs, Georgia and daughter in law Rosalina Dalina-Huddleston of Balangiga Eastern Samar, Phillippines; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her late husband Elbert Westbrook Huddleston of Booneville, Mississippi; parents Bessie Mae Russell and James Claude Russell of Acworth, Georgia; brothers James “Ray” Russell, John Lamar Russell, Robert Marion Russell; and sister Dolly Mae Walker.

Betty was born December 2, 1932 to Bessie Mae (Landers) Russell and James Claude Russell of Acworth, Georgia. She was a 1960 graduate of the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing (Mercer University) and a 1966 graduate of Emory University earning a Master of Science degree in Nursing Administration. Her passion was nursing, being a caregiver to her family and others, and mentoring those under her wing. Betty was both director of nursing at Cartersville Hospital in the 1960’s and WellStar Kennestone Hospital in the 1970’s and 1980’s. She also worked for several years at the American Red Cross as a manager in platelets donations till the age of 72, a testament to her dedication to the nursing profession. Betty was a very kind, loving, spiritual woman and will be missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, Georgia.
