Betty Jane Canup, age 83, of Powder Springs, Georgia passed away Thursday, July 9, 2020. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 13, 2020 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Marietta. Interment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta, Georgia.
A lifelong resident of Cobb County, Mrs. Canup retired as a teacher with the Cobb County School System at Tapp Middle School where she taught Social Studies. She was a member of Powder Springs First Baptist Church, where she had a long-standing relationship with God. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed planting flowers and working in her yard.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Enid Adair, as well as her loving husband Frank H. Canup, daughter-in-law Marie Canup, and her two brothers Doyle and Alton Adair which she adored.
She was proud and honored to be the patriarch, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to our family. She has been a major presence in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Survivors included: Husband, Bobby Alexander; 3 sons who she was always proud of, Stanley H. Canup, of Powder Springs, GA, David (Linda) Canup, Douglasville, GA and Carey (Rebecca) Canup, Dallas, GA; Sister, Opal Deering, Powder Springs, GA; 3 Step Children, Randy (Tina) Alexander, Jeff (Mary) Alexander and Kim (Tom) Tapp.
She was a loving and devoted grandmother to her 3 grandchildren, Mandy, Eric, and Jessica, and her 3 great-grandchildren McKenzie, Madelyn, and Madison. She also had 7 step-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She leaves behind many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her, though she has left a permanent mark etched on all our hearts along with memories which we will all cherish forever.
