Bernice Blanche Bourne Castorina, age 94, of Powder Springs, Georgia passed away July 28, 2019. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Marietta,GA. Interment will follow at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park in Marietta, Georgia.
Mrs. Castorina was born September 30, 1924 at home in Dumfries, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late James and Lottie Bourne and the last of seven siblings. She married Alfred Rudy Castorina, Sr. on November 22, 1941 in Washington, DC. Her husband was an Army Officer and they traveled extensively. Bernice lived in Japan, Hawaii, Austria, Italy and Vietnam. Due to those military assignments she had the opportunity to travel throughout Europe and the Middle East. After retirement from the Army, Bernice and her husband settled first in Virginia, then they moved to New Hampshire, Florida and finally Georgia. She is fondly remembered by her grandchildren for the walks they would take to the lake to feed the ducks and that she always had time to play board games with them when they visited. Her family loved her cooking and especially breakfast that almost always would include English muffins.
She is survived by her son Rudy Castorina, his wife Nan, grandchildren Tina, Keith and Elizabeth and 11 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 2, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, GA.
