Barbara Jean Moody

Barbara Jean Barnes Mize Moody, 77, of Doraville, Georgia, entered eternal rest on July 7th, 2023, following a long battle with cancer.

Barbara was born December 6th, 1945, in Tampa, Florida. After moving to the Atlanta area and starting a family, she went on to study nursing, and enjoyed a long career in emergency room and trauma medicine throughout North Georgia. Possessed with a keen wit and a contagious laugh, Barbara captivated every room she entered - leaving behind a mark on each person she met and a presence that lasted long after her departure. Her life is no different, as friends and family will feel her impact continue through the years.

Barbara was predeceased by her mother, Carolyn Severance, father, George Barnes, and brother, Steven Barnes. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Ann Bailey (Lexington, KY), Glenda Hoegger (Pontiac, IL), Ellen Bailey (Tucker, GA), and Carol Severance (Ashville, NC), her brother, Randall Barnes (Marina del Rey, CA), her children Kevin Mize (Ellijay, GA), Brian Mize (Cartersville, GA), and Lori Mize Caillouet (Dallas, GA), along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Paws Atlanta ( https://pawsatlanta.org/donate ), an organization dedicated to rescuing dogs and cats - a cause Barbara felt strongly about.
