Barbara Bass May, age 84, was released from her body of suffering to her glorified body on December 26, 2018. She was reunited with her husband of 63 years, Dewey Edward May, who preceded her in death just two months earlier. She joined her two infant granddaughters, Bethany Danae Huggins and Kathryn Diane Huggins; great granddaughter Kaleigh Hudson as well as her beloved parents, Morris and Bessie Bass.
Mrs. May is survived by her children Sheri (Doug) Huggins of Marietta, Kevin (Tina) May of North Augusta, SC, and Marcia May of East Point. She has two surviving brothers, Tony Bass and Jim Bass. She has been blessed with 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Barbara was born and raised in Atlanta, graduating from Okeefe High School. For a number of years she attended and was a member of The Baptist Tabernacle in downtown Atlanta. In the early 70’s she transferred her church membership to Faith Baptist Church in Ellenwood until its closing in the early 2000’s. Her final church membership was at Bible Baptist Church of Hampton.
Barbara held a few secretarial positions until finding the position she came to love as a preschool teacher at Faith Christian School. Due to health complications she was forced to retire early.
She loved her family and her Lord, faithfully sharing a verbal and/or written testimony of the need to trust Christ for eternal salvation.
