Barbara P Chafin passed peacefully to her eternal home in heaven with her Lord Jesus Christ just after noon on Feb. 24, 2021.
She was born on Aug. 22, 1939 in Forsyth County, Georgia to Ola Pauline and William Emmett Payne and was a graduate of Forsyth County High.
Barbara started her journey as a Christian following her Lord and Savior in her teen years.
After graduation from High School she worked for the State of Georgia for a number of years and moved to Atlanta in early 1962 to share an apartment with three of her classmates. After living in Atlanta just a short time she met a young man that had just come home after completing an enlistment in the Navy. A little over a year later they were married and then after their first son was born she took on the job that she loved and was born for and that was of being a homemaker for her husband and two sons, then later on the grandchildren, and then great-grandchildren as much as she could.
After marriage she and her husband became members of the First Baptist Church of Roswell, her husband's home town. Later she and her family moved to Cobb County in 1970 and became members of Norton Park Baptist Church in Smyrna where they were members for over 38 years before moving to Macland Baptist Church, her current church home at her passing. She was also a member of the Adult VI Sunday School class.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents and her only sibling, her sister Stella Wansley York.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years William J (Bill) Chafin, sons Kevin Chafin, Keith (Jeri) Chafin, grandchildren Greg, Devin, Jill, Billy, Ashley and 6 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be a private graveside memorial service for her at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
