Arthur Grant, age 78, of Powder Springs, GA passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2014. Services will be held 2pm Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2595 New Macland Rd. Powder Springs, GA 30127 with Bishop Kinley Shell officiating. He was born in New York City on January 23, 1936 to Rose and David Goldstein, the children of immigrants from Eastern Europe. He grew up in the Bronx, and spent a short time in the Army before marrying and having children. He moved from New York to Florida and later Florida to Georgia. He loved to cook and turned that into a catering business that he and wife Marjan ran together. In the early years, he drove a taxi in New York City, worked in retail sales at stores like E.J. Korvette and J.M. Fields, sometimes working 2 or 3 jobs to support his family. He loved his family above all else, except, maybe, his furry companion Precious Lady Rose. He had the rare experience of knowing his great grandchildren and they gave him so much joy. He spent much of his life searching - on a spiritual journey, before finding a home in the Mormon Church. He discovered Twitter and @CrankyYankee911 was born, though fitting a thought into 140 characters was always a challenge for him. Arthur took great pride in keeping his home looking nice and had a passion for gardening, growing beautiful roses every year. Roses that are blooming right now in honor of his life.
