Dr. Annirate Marie Clarke, affectionately called Marlene or Ann, passed away peacefully at home on January 7, 2023 at the young age of 53 years old. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Trinity Fellowship in Marietta, GA. Interment will follow at Powder Springs Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Powder Springs, Georgia.
Ann was born on June 20, 1969 to parents Merle Ritchie and Carlton Clarke in Kingston, Jamaica. She was the 4th of 6 children for her mother and the 3rd of 5 for her father. Ann grew up in a tenement yard in Coburn Gardens, Kingston until she was 14 years old when the family moved to Seaview Gardens. She attended Ms. Ann's Basic School, Coburn Gardens All Age School, and the Tivoli Gardens Comprehensive High School after passing the Common Entrance Exam.
Ann decided to expand her reach beyond Jamaican waters and relocated to the United States of America where she began the next phase of her life. She decided to go back to school as she was a life-long learner. She attended Kennesaw State University and University of Phoenix before enrolling at Walden University where she earned her PhD.
Her educational accomplishments prepared her for the many professional positions that she held. She worked at Comfort Inn, John Rivers Associates Inc, Techteam Global Inc., WellStar Hospital and up to the point of her passing she was still employed at Wells Fargo Bank. Despite her busy schedule, she still found time for mentoring and community service.
She is survived by her spouse Randy, her only sister Nazel, and four brothers, Tony, Donovan, Rhoan and Jerome. She cared for and loved her three nieces Atina, Abigail and Toriann, as well as her seven nephews, Jeff, Jamar, Llamar, Rolando, Alex, AJ and Javier. She also had a large number of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who are truly family. We are all saddened by her early departure, but we know that her soul is with her Lord and Savior.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 from 10:00 am until at Trinity Fellowship in Marietta, Georgia.
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30.
