Annie Sue Steffner

November 24, 1945 — March 11, 2023

Sue Steffner, 77, passed away on March 11, 2023 surrounded by family.
She is survived by her two sons, Tim and Ken (Donna Gail) Nichols, Grandson Dalton Nichols, sisters Faye (Bill) Poole and Tink (Junior) Swan, brother Ike Smallwood, sister-in-law Darlene Smallwood, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Sue is preceded in death by her parents Mamie and Johnny Smallwood, her husband George Steffner and brothers Marvin (Ruth) Smallwood, Daryl Smallwood and sister-in-law Debbie Smallwood.

Sue was a beloved mom, Nana, sister, aunt and friend who was known for her love for all things outdoors. She enjoyed viewing God’s nature both through a scope while in her deer stand or through the lens of her camera. She was a self-confident, stylish woman who was not afraid to take on any project or task. She was a self-taught expert in primitive country antiques and landscaping - there was not a rock or tree that she was afraid to move. She was admired because she could do just about anything she set her mind to do.

Sue was a long standing and active member of Higher Ground Baptist Church where she faithfully served her Lord and Savior. Before retirement, Sue enjoyed a successful career working in various Human Resource positions in the Atlanta area.

When asked how to describe Sue, her family said “precious, stubborn, strong-willed, selfless, authentic, one-of-a-kind, but most of all, loved. Susie will be missed.
