In Loving Memory of Anh Hoang Luong

June 6, 1946 - October 24, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anh Hoang Luong, a beloved father, devoted husband, and proud grandfather. He departed from this world peacefully on October 24, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loved ones.

Anh was born in 1946 during the middle of a war in his home country of Vietnam. As a young man, Anh joined the South Vietnamese Army and served as a second lieutenant. When South Vietnam lost, Anh was sent away to a "re-education camp," where he would spend five years away from his newborn daughter and family, working and sleeping in harsh conditions with little or nothing to eat. Despite being imprisoned, Anh never lost hope. He contributed his unwavering love for his family as the secret that kept him alive while he was away.

In 1992, together with his three young daughters, Anh and his wife, Kim Anh, left behind the only home that they knew in Vietnam, in search of a better life for their family in the United States. Anh embraced the challenges and opportunities that came with being an immigrant, becoming a source of inspiration to many who had the privilege of knowing him.

Anh shared almost 42 years of marriage with Kim Anh, the love of his life. Their union was a shining example of commitment, love, and understanding. As a father, he was devoted to his children. He worked tirelessly to provide for their future and instilled in them the values of hard work, kindness, and compassion, which will forever resonate in their lives. As a grandfather, Anh remembered all 8 of his grandchildren's birthdays and always made sure to be one of the first people to wish them a happy birthday. He kept all of their gifts and cards and was so honored to be their "Ong."

Despite his battle with cancer and the challenges it presented, he remained optimistic till the very end.
Anh will be missed by his loving wife, Kim Anh, his three daughters and their husbands, Mai (Edward Duy Pham) of Atlanta, GA, Anh Thu (Tuan Tran) of Fleming Island, FL, and Vy (Elliot Oxman) of Springfield, VA; his 8 grandchildren, Jasmine, Adeline, Benjamin, Michelle, Audrey, Isabella, Nathan and Abigail; his sister, KimXuan Huynh Brezinsky of New York City, NY; his brother, Tung Vinh Luong and sister-in-law, Lac Vo, of Vietnam; and a host of dear friends and relatives.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 27th from 5pm until 7pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory (2480 Macland Rd, Marietta, GA 30064). A memorial service to celebrate Anh's life will be held on Saturday, October 28th at 10am at the Holy Vietnamese Martyrs Catholic Church, 4545 Timmers Way, Norcross, GA 30093. The family invites friends, neighbors, and acquaintances to join them in remembering and honoring his life.
