REV. ANGEL LUIS GONZALEZ
August 2, 1936 – January 12, 2021
Rev. Angel L. Gonzalez, 84, of Powder Springs, Georgia, peacefully entered eternal life on January 12, 2021. He died in his home surrounded by his loving wife and children.
Angel Luis Gonzalez-Vazquez was born in Canovanas, Puerto Rico to Andres and Ana Gonzalez. He had two brothers (Dimas and Efrain) and one sister (Lydia). As a teen, he loved spending his time with his family, playing and watching baseball.
In 1956, as a young adult, Angel traveled to the Bronx in New York City where he met his wife, Ana Maria DeJesus. Angel and Ana often recounted, “it was love at first sight”. They married in 1958 and raised a family of eight children which included seven boys: Andres, Luis Angel, Ramon, Rafael Angel, Pablo, Samuel, and Angel Manuel and one girl: Ana Milagros who is the youngest.
Angel was a kind, dependable and a spiritual father not only to his family, but to many others. He attended Spanish Eastern Bible Institute and the New York Theological Seminary, and earned a Masters Degree in Theology. He answered the divine calling and began his ministry pastoring various churches in the Bronx (NYC), Cleveland (OH), Brentwood (NY) and ultimately in Marietta (GA). Rev. Gonzalez impacted thousands of people who were inspired by his leadership, his love for the ministry and his never-ending passion for helping people in need.
In addition to Ana Maria, his wife of 62 years, Angel is survived by his children Andres (Janice Lyn), Ramon (Naomi), Rafael Angel (Irma), Pablo (Alexandra), Samuel, Angel Manuel (Laura Rosamund) and Ana Milagros (Bladimir). He is also survived by his grandchildren Andres Jr. (Lindsey), LeeAnna Marie (Edward), Joshua Adam (Kylie), Matthew Luis (Nicole), Rafael Angel II, Nathaniel Luis, Nicolas Alexander, Samuel Jr. (Kytra), Benjamin Caleb-Luis, Eric Michael, Nigel Scott, Tyler James, Julia Elizabeth, Illiana, Emmanuel Luis, Dairys, Vlairys, and Abdiel, and great grandchildren Aurora Lyn, Matthew Luis Jr., Peyton Rose, Arianna Lynn and Luis Angel.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at the West Cobb Funeral Home, on Sunday, January 24, 2021. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the celebration is limited to immediate family only.
