Amanda Luz Diaz, age 101 years, died peacefully on Thursday, February 15th, 2018 in her home in Powder Springs, Georgia. She was surrounded by family.
She was born in Santa Barbara, Guatemala on January 19th, 1917. From the day of her birth until her last breath, Mrs. Diaz was truly an amazing woman. She moved to the United States in 1967, and made a new life by working for many years to care for her children and family as a single mother. Mrs. Diaz had ten children, three who have passed, and seven who remain living. She was preceded by her sons Adelso, Marco Tulio, and Marco Antonio. She is survived by her children Otilia Celada, Ana Najarro (Francisco), Aura Meza, Sonia Toso (Erick Sr.), Hugo Silva (Debbie), Leonel Silva (Carol) and Mario Silva. She had thirty one grandchildren, seventy two great grandchildren, and thirty four great great grandchildren.
Throughout her life she loved to travel, and visited many countries including Spain, Mexico, the Bahamas, St. Augustine, Canada, and many others. She also loved the outdoors, and was often found caring for her plants, feeding the birds, and looking at and admiring the different colors of trees, especially during the Spring and Fall. She was extremely organized, loved cooking, and made many amazing dishes unlike any other.
She enjoyed being surrounded by family, who would describe her as a witty, loving, strong-willed woman. She possessed a respected, commanding presence.
She amazed so many with not only her physical, but also her mental strength. She will always be the backbone of her family, and her legacy will live through them forever.
Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Marietta.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta.
