Alva Dewey Hicks

Alva Dewey Hicks, age 76, of Marietta, GA passed away on Friday, October 5, 2012. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
Born in Alabama, Mr. Hicks lived most of his life in the Atlanta and Marietta area. After working for Southern Railroad for 10 years, he was drafted into the United States Army. He then worked for Delta Airlines, retiring after 28 years of employment. After retiring, he worked for the School Box for over 15 years. He loved playing Santa Claus, and did so for 30 years, at the Ronald McDonald House in Chattanooga, Brian Center Nursing Home in Powder Springs, and June’s Childcare in Dallas. He was a member of the Acworth Masonic Lodge #176, attended Central Baptist Church, and enjoyed traveling to all 50 states and around the world.

Brother: Larry Hicks and wife Shirley, Maryville, TN
Niece and Nephew: Daphne Moffatt and Michael Hicks

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House @ www.rmhc.org , or to the Pine Grove Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 4981 County Road 85, Fort Payne, AL 35968.
