BIOGRAPHY:
Alan Kovatch was born and raised in Wallington, NJ. His childhood passions were hunting, fishing, and summer trips with family to North Carolina. As a teen, he also enjoyed spending time and helping at his Uncle Johnny’s wheel alignment business. He attended Paterson Vocational & Technical High School for Boys where he was selected by classmates for the daily reading of the Bible, and played 3rd base and pitched for the baseball team. After high school, he married Mary Jo Martin of Smyrna, and moved to Austell, Ga raising two children, Alan Jr. and Carlene. Alan’s career included working at Lockheed, Grumman Aircraft, SIONICS and Cobb County Operations, all before a lengthy 26 year employment at Georgia Tech Research Institute as a Mechanical Designer. Over his career, Alan enjoyed being able to contribute to many advanced and technical projects supporting commercial, defense and space initiatives of the day. He took great joy in cultivating a large family vegetable garden for over twenty years. After he retired, his greatest joys were spending time with his 4 grandchildren, playing golf with his good friends as a member of the Paulding Seniors Golf Association, and baking peanut butter cookies for family and friends.
