Sarah Bolding Carlile

April 25, 1937 — November 22, 2022

Sarah Bolding Carlile, age 85, of Kennesaw, Georgia passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2022. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with Rev. Mike Linch officiating. Interment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta.

Born in Gainesville, GA, Mrs. Carlile lived most of her life in the Marietta/Kennesaw Area. Her family, including 5 sisters, lived in Marietta Place during their younger years while their dad worked for Bell Bomber. She was a graduate of Marietta high school and went on to work at Kennestone hospital in their X-ray department where she met the love of her life-Kenneth Carlile. She was pregnant with their first child when he was drafted during the Berlin crisis. She loves to tell the story of how Kenneth picked a day to walk the floors in his barracks in Germany thinking that it may be the day she would have their baby. It was after Kenneth returned from service that they realized he was talented in designing flowers. They opened their first florist, Ken's Flower Shop, right by the Marietta bus station. Sarah worked alongside her husband learning and doing anything necessary to help them succeed including waiting on customers, delivering flowers, collecting bills, and cleaning up styrofoam "snow" on the floor during Christmas time in the florist. They went on to have 2 more children and 6 grandchildren who they loved so very much. They sold their last florist, Carlile Florist in Kennesaw, in 1993 and spent their retirement keeping grandbabies, traveling, taking care of their commercial property, and more. After her husband died, she moved into a 55+ community in Kennesaw where she made wonderful friends exercising, playing games, and participating in a Bible study. She was a longtime member of Kennesaw First Baptist Church and she loved Jesus. She never met a stranger. She was smart, resilient, honest, kept the cleanest house in Cobb county, and made the best coconut and strawberry cakes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth R. Carlile Sr,. in 2013, her sisters Barbara Lunsford and Marvalyn Long, and her brother in law Ray Lunsford.

Survivors include: 3 Children, Kenny (Lisa) Carlile, Kennesaw, GA, Kelley (Jamie) Maddox, Kennesaw, GA, and Kyle (Robie) Carlile, Acworth, GA; 3 Siblings, Glenda (Robert) Hamby, St. Simon's Island, GA, Winnie (Phillip) Wilson, Marietta, GA, and Bonnie (Don) Mancuso, Lancaster, PA; 6 Grandchildren, Kensley Tanksley, Chandler Carlile, Dresden Maxwell, Sierra Mortimore, Caleb Carlile, and Cody Carlile; 7 Great Grandchildren, Gracie Tanksley, Eidyn Maxwell, Dax Mortimore, Amelia Carlile, Lincoln Carlile, Matthew Carlile, and Maddison Carlile.
